Downtime during our day provides us with the space to clear our minds, rest our thoughts and better process information. It can enhance memory, spark creativity, and improve attention spans.

Given the increased speed at which the world moves, and the constant flow of information pushed at us constantly, we must take responsibility for our own slowing down. When we become intentional about our downtime, we allow ourselves the necessary space to replenish our mental resources.

Creating short moments of quiet time to rest for our minds results in advantages both personally and in our work productivity.

Discover where you can incorporate even 10-15 minutes of downtime. Perhaps an afternoon tea ritual, a short daily meditation or breathing exercise, or journaling or walking outside. There are many ways to incorporate and discover the benefits of downtime. Just pick one and try it. You don’t have to conquer this overnight, but choosing to implement it regularly will have a long-lasting positive effect in all areas of your life.
